Cajal Neuro-Research Foundation (CNRF) came into existence in 2007, with the support of young neuroscientists, neurologists, surgeons, psychologists and health professionals from Mumbai and other parts of the world. Today CNRF is a registered foundation under the Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950, Government of India. Besides activities in India, CNRF counts with international collaborations in United States, Brazil, South Africa and Spain.
Our goal is to translate cutting-edge research into innovative and compassionate care for patients with neurological, psychiatric and psychological disorders. Specifically, to build a centre of excellence of research in Psychiatry, Neurosurgery and Clinical Neurosciences, based in Mumbai, India, whereby to provide a high quality clinical service to the people of India and South Asian subcontinent, and to foster an academic environment of relevant teaching and research. We are dedicated to helping patients recognize their mental strengths and abilities through confidence building, empowerment, and technical assistance.
The aspiration has been to connect the legacy of Dr. Santiago Ramón y Cajal, one of the greatest scientists world has ever produced, and one of the most socially conscious, to meet mental health needs of the poorest people. In particular, CNRF focuses on providing advanced and basic health services to the people of the developing world, especially South Asia. With proper facilities, patients will no longer have to travel outside of the subcontinent to access and meet their healthcare needs --and the poorest patients will have a hope.
